Mary was a brave warrior even before she was officially diagnosed. Mary knew the symptoms and went to her OB/GYN when she knew something was wrong. He told her she had an infection and prescribed her an antibiotic. While she was the kindest, gentlest woman you will ever meet, she also didn’t take no for an answer. Mary went to her general practitioner and explained what she was feeling and her suspicion of Ovarian cancer. Her GP listened to her and ran the tests. Indeed she was right. The tests confirmed… Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. We lost our dear sweet mother last week, but her persistence gave us 8 more years. She saw her youngest graduate from the top Business School in the country and her oldest walk down the aisle. None of this would have been possible if she had not advocated for herself. Know the symptoms. Know your body. Be your best advocate.
